This is part of the Special issue on Myelin and contain topics presented at the Nobel Mini-Symposium 55 “The Dark Side of The Brain: Myelinating Glia in the Central and Peripheral Nervous System” took place 9–10 October 2019, at the Nobel Forum, Stockholm, Sweden, organized by Roman Chrast and Gonçalo Castelo-Branco. The Mini-Symposium (poster below) focused on the emerging roles of myelinating glial cells (oligodendrocytes and Schwann cells) in the central and peripheral nervous systems (CNS and PNS), and it was organized under the auspices of the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet.
